WILMINGTON COLLEGE

Dear Elaine:

I was delighted to hear of your success as a chemistry teacher. I am deeply pleased that you remembered to write me a letter. I shall put it in my reveries book. I received this at Montclair when they gave me the retirement dinner in 1960. These letters are a wealth to me that mean a lot.

Your class somehow stands out as one that has been nearest to me throughout the years. I am not sure but I associate Marion Miller Jordan with your class. She lives in Silver Springs Md. Her husband is in meteorology and Marion teaches Science. She might be of help to you. Her address is: 9205 Sudbury Road, Silver Springs, Md. Phone Juniper 8-1585 a few years ago.

We live in Blanchester which is 35 miles from Cincinnati. Our house is on part of my folk's old home place a few houses from where I was born and raised. I teach part time at Wilmington College which is my alma mater. Since leaving MSC I taught 2 years at Salem College in the West Virginia hills. When they talk of Appalachia I know where it is. Occasionally we have someone from M.S.C. drop in on their trips. That is always a time for many recollections.

MSC has grown so much. They now have 4000 regular students besides graduate and Summer courses. They told me they had 30 science teachers. I doubt I would know my way around the campus. Now they are considering a new science building. They built one while I was there, then an addition as big as the first one and now a new building. They say the mountain back of the campus is now a parking lot and still parking troubles. All my old friends have retired - even Dr. Partridge has gone.

From your letter you certainly have received nice appreciations for your work in high school teaching. We wonder if the ACS papers will have a write-up?

Mrs. Reed remembers you and sends her congratulations. We hope you may find it convenient to visit us if you go this way. We are but a few miles off Route 50.

Cordially yours,
