Dear Mother,

It is cold and crisp here in New York today, not particularly springlike. The last few days, at least, have not been dreary and rainy like last week.

Nothing much is going on as usual. I got a lot of housework done home last weekend, fortunately; that is about my major accomplishment to date this week. I continue to develop the word puzzle, having sent the agent 40 games last week and being ready to shoot him another 35 when I work out three more later this week. You say you are working on your income tax; I sent mine out last week and should get back over $400 on it, which will be most helpful.

The house has changed ownership, but nothing else (like a rent increase) has been mentioned. Perhaps I will get the new landlord in to plaster a spot that fell out of the living room ceiling a few weeks ago, or supply some paint to the kitchen, which I didn't have painted last time.

Dean is able from his job to buy and old used car, for $150, and has put down $75 on it already. He will have the job of moving it from side to side of the street, thank you!

That's about all for the present, except for the papers which I enclose from the Federal savings bank -- I don't think I know how to fill them out. You have the bank's address, I trust.

Love,
Doris
