Dear Mother,

I should have written last week, but was too busy at work. Today I have more time. Somehow, I am too lazy on the weekend to get much written.

The weather this morning was beautiful, but the prophets said snow tonight. Not having been out at lunch time, I0 couldn't say. But we had quite cold weather last weekend, and on Friday the heat went off. It got fixed on Saturday only to break down immediately again. I never would have believed it, but they managed to repair it on Sunday, giving us a nice warm Monday of vacation.

Dean goes to work tonight, and I guess I won't be seeing him for about a week - he'll be away when I am home, but maybe will come back for a midnight supper or something like that.

I am distributing my Avon orders today. I sold about $50 worth. It isn't worth continuing, since the door-to-door canvassing isn't worthwhile - nobody will open the door in a big city, I guess! Anyway, I made a few bucks and got a nice little suitcase I can use. Although we have no shortage of suitcases, haave them in all sizes from the abortive move to Chicago.

Not much more to do except the Daily News crossword puzzle. First I tackle the Times puzzle, which is generally harder than the one in the News but goes faster. Emily, the accountant here, does both every day too and we sort of race to see who gets done first and check each other out.

I'll write more often this next week.

Love,

Doris
