Dear Mother,

The weather continues fairly mild and sunny. We are well. Dean has been going out every day "making rounds" with varying degreesof hope, but I guess it is a long haul to get good work.

Dean's agent Chuck was sent your manuscript, and I talked to him today. He liked it very much but did not think that it would fit into today's market very well, which is discouraging. I will ask him to send it back and try some of the places my friend Gladys has tried for her children's books. He has sent Dean's movie script to about three people who evinced interest, and is waiting to hear about that now.

Work is very light in the office, and I have a lot of time on my hands, which I do not really appreciate. I have sent my resume to four agencies in hope of finding better work.

There is a man in my office staff who is trying to write a novel. Every morning between 8 and 9 he works on it, some sort of Western. He is very congenial. In general, the people are pleasant here, but there is very little socialization.

The most interesting part of the day continues to be be the visit to PHP, where there are many interesting people. Dean will come there with me tonight to a Couples' Group. We are always served coffee (which I don't drink, it being at night), cakes, and apples, and then I go home and make dinner (or Dean will have it made for me). I'm getting to be a little more inventive, especially inn sauces for the hamburg patties which form such a large part of a cheap diet.
