Rained hard. Field's called. 
Finally left Kingwood about 1 P.M back again. Started 1.15
Nyack, Tarrytown. Broke down at Rye. 20 minutes to repair 

Westport. Lovely - unusual Colonial house with 6 slender white columns, supporting pediment but placed against [[face?]] of house, Arched doors & windows between.

New Haven 7 P.M. Hotel Taft Modern clean clear.
This is the region where cupolas wear crowns from countesses to duchesses & Empresses They are most amusing

Sunday Sept 9th Left New Haven without breakfast as it took one half an hour to come. Lovely drive along shore all way to Narragansett. Latter all closed but one hotel. A stream of [[?]] at Sanderstown 20 [[?]] could not [[take?]] Ferry. Left
