The Duke of York and Prince Henry were previously on a short visit to Lord and Lady Leicester at Holkham Hall, where the West Norfolk Hunt Ball took place during their stay. The splendid Palladian house at Holkham, built by Ken in 1744-46, is admirably adapted for a ball, the hall (surrounded by a gallery on three sides), the great drawing-room, and the saloon being fine spacious apartments, in addition to which there are two large dining-rooms.
