Two very beautiful red sandstone cliffs to left of town on leaving for Hartford. Might have inspired one of [[?'s]] pictures Boston 7.30 P.M. Mrs J [[Linzie?]] at dinner. Walked down to Back Bay. Beautiful as Venice with all the lights. Only just beginning ploughing in Mass. No spring blossoms but pears yet. Further advanced in Connecticut. May 9. Left 10.15.
