[[top margin]] black frame 22 1/8 x 16 1/8 [[/top margin]] December 10, 1969 Dear Mr. Hornstein: Mr. David Carter has conveyed to me the interest you are showing in the drawing by: Francesco PANNINI - "View of the Grand Gallery of the Farnese Palace" - He has no doubt communicated to you the exhaustive pamphlet relating to this work of art and which I assume gives all available and pertinent data. You are thus fully aware not only of its exceptional esthetic merit but also of its historical importance, for it constitutes a document. It represents the famous Carracci Gallery, one of the sights of Rome, as it was in the XVIIIth century and too as it still is today, with the exception of a few details. It would give me considerable pleasure were you to acquire this drawing, and though I think that my Firm's selling price of U.S. $7,000 is extremely responsible, in order to tempt you further I would gladly reduce this figure by 55, which would bring it to $6,650 (U.S. DOLLARS SIX THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY). I am all the more willing to suggest this reduction in price as I gathered from Mr. Carter that other drawings also hold your attention. Furthermore, it goes without saying, were you to acquire this study, it would be shipped to you by my First, all expenses prepaid, and it would remain insured by us until its delivery. Were it agreeable, in order to shorten Customs formalities it could be addressed to the Montreal Museum. Looking forward to hearing further from you, Yours very sincerely, Germain Seligman Michall Hornstein, Esq. 4875 Dufferin Road Hampstead Montreal 29, P.Q. [[bottom margin]] OP [[/bottom margin]]
