Dear Hanns:

At john Goelet's request I am sending you by First Class, Air Mail, Registered, an ivory - "Crucifixion" - XIVth century - which impressed him much.

It is my most recent purchase and I feel certain you will agree with me that it is of great beauty. You will notice the deep carving, so much so that these small figures are almost in the round - the pathos of their expressions is outstanding.

There is no need for me to go into further details, for you know so much about these precious works of art.

I am leaving town for Europe in the early hours of Thursday, May 15th, and were it possible, I would like to hear from you, or from John Goelet, before my departure.

With kind thoughts,

Yours,

Germain Seligman

P.S. The price is $8,000 (EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS)
