25 1866; all of which refer to this Case.

From the Records of the Probate Court of Kemper Co, copies of which are enclosed I find that three of the children are ordered to be apprenticed to Mr P.H. Gully; and two have been apprenticed to M. Griffin. The one named "Jane" is dead. Mr. Gully had the same three children bound to him last year, but without the consent of the parents; and it is evident that the action of the children going into court and asking to be bound to Mr. Gully was in accordance with instructions received from him. It will be observed that the Records of the Court state that the two children bound to Mr. Griffin, have neither father or mother, when it is well known that Orange is the father of them, and provided for them until December as which time, he was at Mr. Gully's for the purpose of getting his older children; but, being threatened with arrest, he had to leave all of his family there.

The three children apprenticed to Mr. Gully are all to support themselves and command good wages. Mr Gully stated that he did not object to Ornina, Orange's wife, going to her husband at any time.

All of which is respectfully submitted.
