Office Howard Asylum,
Lauderdale, Miss. May 18", 1868,

John H. Hill,

Sir,
You are respectfully requested to return without delay the Govt. property belonging to the Institution now in your possession.

Report has been made here by a freedman relative to a Controversy had with you this morning, in which he alleges that three shots were fired at him by you. You will please make an explanation of the affair to this office.- Complaint has also been made by different individuals in which they state they have been unable to obtain receipts for money paid to you in liquidation of their taxes.

Your early attention to and explanation of those matters will obviate the necessity of this being reported to the authorities at Vicksburg

Respectfully,

Agent Bu. R.F &c,
