I have the honor to transmit herewith Ration Return for thirty destitute Colored orphans, fourteen of which are over 10 years of age, These children were sent here by order of Gen'l A. C. Gillem, Asst Comr, from Jackson, Miss,

I would respectfully request that the rations called for on the enclosed return and those for thirty-two children for June, the returns for which were forwarded to you May 20th be forwarded as early as practicable, as I have been compelled to feed a much larger number than I drew for, I am out of rations.
