In cases of sickness, which frequently occur, rice and sugar would be very beneficial, and it is impossible to get along without the use of candles and vinegar, pepper and other seasoning and much needed to tender the food healthy.
Hoping some arrangements may be made by which the entire ration may be issued to the children in the same proportion as bread and meat now are, I remain
