Lauderdale, Miss. Sept. 28, 1868

Mr. Matheny

I placed a man in charge of Dr. Mosley's house with direction to take charge of his things. He informs me that you have take and carried away a portion of the said articles. You will please return the same as I will be held responsible for them (having placed this man in charge). It would in my opinion be much better in you. If you showed as much interest in the Dr. personally as you do in his property. It is very disgracefull that this man should suffer from neglect, and want and more so for his friends or relatives to come in and manifest sufficient interest in his property to take care of it while they leave the man to die for the want of attention.

Very Respectfully
O.C. French
Agt in Charge
