Dear Sir,
You are respectfully requested to act in connection with Robert Walker Esq. in making a division of the public lands now occupied by Simon Walker and Loveless Kennedy Freedmen, setting off to each, such portion of said land as in your opinion they are entitled in taking into consideration, the amount of Labor and money expended by each in the improvements made on the premises. Nothing you may do in the case will be so construed as to make you in any way responsible to any one who may hereafter come into possession of this land, as an order will be issued from this officer giving to each of the above named freedmen, the right to use and ocupy the lands set apart for them, by you - until such cases as persons with a prior or legal claim may claim it, when they will be required by said order to deliver it up to such parties.
