Bureau R. F. and A. L.
Sub District of Lauderdale
Lauderdale, Miss, October, 21st 1868

R. Wilson. Esq.
Toomsuba Miss. Sir.
Harrison Berdo Freedman living near this place reports that your took from him to day, a Gun, claiming to do so by authority of General Gillem, as he had lately been in this vicinity giving orders for you take property where found. The least that can be said of this you are mistaken. You have transcinded your authority in taking this man's Gun. He resides in Mr Tucker's Beat and if any property is taken from him it must be done by Mr Tucker, who amply able and well qualified to attend to his own business = You will return this mans Gun to him at once and make an explanation of your interest relative to this matter; otherwise your removal from office will be asked for from Headquarters at Vicksburg, Miss. Your early attention this matter will save trouble to yourself.
Respectfully
O.C. French
Agent B.R.F. and A. Lands
