5. Annual Business Meeting 16 Apr 1920
[p. 2] "Dr. Fisher reported for the Committee in charge of the Mearns memorial that the tablet to Dr. Mearns had been installed in the rock on the cliff north of the cabin a few days before the last fall field meeting [Sunday 9 Nov 1919]. Photographs of the site, with a description of it had been forwarded to Mrs. Mearns and her daughter and a letter received from them had expressed their appreciation. Mr. Coville commented on the peculiar fitness of a natural monument to the memory of Dr. Mearns.
It was moved and seconded that this report of this committee be accepted and the committee discharge with the thanks of the club for the very satisfactory way in which they had handled their commission.

Note: In reviewing the Field Club signed sheets for Plummer's Island (1913-1918) I noted that Dr. Mearns visited twice during that period with his wife and daughter:

1. On Sunday 2 Nov 1913, 4 members (including A. K. Fisher, E. w. Nelson, Paul Bartsch, and H. S. Barber) visited Plummer's Island with a number of guests, including Edgar A. Mearns, Lillian H[athaway]. Mearns [his daughter], and Ella W[ittich]. Mearns [his wife, married in 1881].
2. On Friday 20 Nov 1914, F. Hollister visited Plummer's Island with Edgar A. Mearns, Ella W. Mearns, and Lillian H. Mearns.
