might be well to state here that to successfully climb rocky mountains such as this, it is essential to wear rubber-soled canvass shoes or sneakers. These prevent your feet from slipping and are beside flexible, allowing your feet to curl around ledges and points of rock.

The rain was at its height as we paddled back to the Eckler camp. Here we took out some dry clothes from our suit-cases and carried them up to Mountain Pond. Unfortunately, after getting into dry clothes, my friend slipped into the lake while getting a drink of water from a log. This was a mere trifle and we soon were asleep for the night.
