continuing up to 2 o'clock & there ^[[insertion]] not [[/insertion]] being [[strikethrough]] a [[/strikethrough]] likelihood of its soon ceasing he turned ^[[insertion]] in [[/insertion]] but not until he had specially instructed [[strikethrough]] his [[/strikethrough]] the watch on duty to call him at once [[strikethrough]] wh [[/strikethrough]] ^[[insertion]] if [[/insertion]] what he desired should take place.
The ^[[insertion]] men [[/insertion]] [[strikethrough]] one [[/strikethrough]] instructed failed to ^[[insertion]] fulfill [[/insertion]] [[strikethrough]] the [[strikethrough]] their orders. The ship turned - & the chains were fast together! The windlass, this morning [[strikethrough]] now [[/strikethrough]] was called into requisition. Down went the levers - all hands pressed hard - The gear broke! A bad fix! unavailing. It was decided to call upon the Governor & get his blacksmith to assist our "Sterry" in repairing the gear of the windlass. Capt. The commander of this crew was the Governor's foreman or General Superintendent.
We feasted these men as well as other Esquimaux who ^[[insertion]] afterward [[/insertion]] came to our assistance for three hours! No hotel in America ^[[insertion]] ever [[/insertion]] went through with [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] furnishi^[[insertion]] n [[/insertion]]g the same number of human beings [[underlined]] with more food & drink [[/underlined]] than the "George Henry" did there!
The following letter was ^[[insertion]] immediately [[/insertion]] [[underlined]] written & sent [[/underlined]] to Governor Elbery, by [[strikethrough]] his [[/strikethrough]] the order of Capt. Buddington
