[[across double page]] Tuesday July 24/60 [[/across double page]] into the room where I had spent many pleasant hours with Gov. E. There I found awaiting: The Three parting glasses one for me - one for Governor Elberg & one for Lieut Gov. Each had, good sayings for one & each. Blessings must & will follow ^[[insertion]] to us all [[/insertion]] if kindly prayers can avail. With all my heart I [[strikethrough]] had [[/strikethrough]] ^[[insertion]] thanked [[/insertion]] the Governor for his great & unceasing kindness to me while within his Harbor - aye more. I thanked him for [[underlined]] his hospitality [[/underlined]] which was overwhelming. My time was short - Lieut. Gov. took me quickly to his domicil - there I hastened to bid Mrs. Kjer & Miss Bulow farewell I met them in front of the Governors I found Gov. Elberg had ordered his boat in readiness to convey me to the "George Henry" & his Lieut proposed to accompany me. This was an honor unexpected The party consisting of Gov E. Lieut Gov Mrs K. & Miss B. & myself proceeded down [[end page]] [[start page]] to the launching. After expressing the pleasure it would give me to see Mrs. Kjer & Miss Bulow in 3 only years in the U.S. & especially promising that the lady, who sometimes [[underlined]] here [[/underlined]] is "blue with cold," should never be ^[[insertion]] so [[/insertion]] while [[underlined]] there [[/underlined]] - & also ^[[insertion]] after [[/insertion]] expressing that if I should ever visit Greenland again I should expect [[strikethrough]] ed [[/strikethrough]] to be greeted by Governor Elberg jr & the young lady there before me as the wife hostess, I bid [[strikethrough]] her [[/strikethrough]] the ladies an affectionate adieu. A warm - a last shake of the hand , & away I was carried, amidst ^[[insertion]] the [[/insertion]] sorrowing hearts of many. On the 7th day of this month I [[underlined]] rejoiced [[/underlined]] when I ^[[insertion]] 1st [[/insertion]] put my foot - where I was now bidding farewell in tears. Then [[underlined]] I rejoiced that God had brought me in safely, that I might put my feet upon Arctic ground! [[/underlined]] Not a soul did I know in [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] whole North. The 17 days I was acquainted with all [[strikethrough]] in [[/strikethrough]] Holsteinborg! I leave it ^[[insertion]] with [[/insertion]] regrets [[strikethrough]] with a [[/strikethrough]] I sorrow at [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] parting [[underlined]] from so noble a people!
