told me that last winter was not a severe one at the North. Last winter, on finding the temperature low - remarkably low at low latitudes, I predicted an open navigable season in the Arctic Seas. I so stated in what I [[strikethrough]] said in [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] said [[strikethrough]] as I spoke [[/strikethrough]] before [[strikethrough]] a [[/strikethrough]] the meeting of the Geographical Society in N.Y. March 5th & also before a public meeting in Cincinnati short time ^[[insertion]] before starting on this voyage [[/insertion]] Just at night a flock of over 200 King-Ducks flew within gun-shot of the vessel.
