Yes, Nature on a Spree! As I went forward, I was met by many of the crew ( These were on their 1st voyage to these Regions) who called my attention to some Ice-bergs ^[[insertion]] ahead [[/insertion]] that looked just like "Bunker Hill Monument" ^[[insertion]] only much higher. [[/insertion]] Fifteen minutes before I had ^[[insertion]] seen [[/insertion]] on the edge of the horizon toward wh. they were now directing my attention three diminutive Bergs. Those pigmies had become giants - 'Nature on a Spree' had given ^[[insertion]] [[strikethrough]] in 15 minutes [[/strikethrough]] [[/insertion]] Snow-Balls on the horizon. The beauty & symetry of Bunker Hill Monument mounting high - very high up - ^[[insertion]] seeming [[/insertion]] columns of Alabaster to prop the Azure Heavens.
Soon the moon came rolling up - & such a ^[[insertion]] phase or - [[/insertion]] face! - Red & [[underlined]]Woefully [[/underlined]] distorted! I [[strikethrough]] turned [[/strikethrough]] ^[[insertion]] took up [[/insertion]] my Nautical Almanac ^[[insertion]] & Astronomical Ephemera" [[/insertion]] of 1860 "published by [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] order of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty" of England, (high authority) & as the new month ^[[insertion]][[strikethrough]] Aug [[/strikethrough]] commences to-morrow, I turned to the Lunar table for August & there found star [[insertion]] r [[/insertion]] ing me [[strikethrough]] [[illegible]] [[/strikethrough]] in the face "Aug. 1860 & Phases of the Moon"

& so on, the different Phases of the month.

A full round circle, however, the adopted emblem the World over by Astronomers - & ^[[insertion]] Domestic [[/insertion]] Almanac Makeers, [[strikethrough]] stan [[/strikethrough]] ^[[insertion]] & Nautical men, [[/insertion]]' written above insert mark]] stood out [[insertion]] in this Book [[/insertion]] in bold relief - [[underlined]] There could be [[strikethrough]] be [[/strikethrough]] no mistake[/underlined]] but that a moon "as big & round as a Cart wheel" - as we boys used to [[insertion]] [[strikethrough]] say [[/insertion]] call it [[/strikethrough]]- say, should be in the Panorama of this Heavens before us to-night!
Here was the Rising Moon, [[underlined]] "up to time". [[/underlined]] even to minute & second! But where was the "[[underlined]] full[[/underlined]] Moon"? 'Nature on a Spree'! Actually the moon, when fully above [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] the horizon, so far as its lower limb was [[strikethrough]] concu [[/strikethrough]] concerned, looked [[strikethrough]] like [[/strikethrough]] ^[[insertion]] bad as [[/insertion]] a crushed hat! Aye worse [[strikethrough]] ^[[insertion]] The [[/insertion]] [[/strikethrough]] - like a Drunkard's face - ^[[insertion]] Fiery red -& [[/insertion]] swollen out to its most attenuated limit of expansion! Leaving out further figures,
