Holsteinborg to get of the Governor some Radish- Seed that we might have occasionally a taste of this acrid & highly stimulating root freshly raised by our own care on Board the "George Henry." By the by, what a luxury, those Radishes Governor Elbery selected & pulled up with his own hand ^[[insertion]] in his garden [[/insertion]] by ^[[insertion]] his residence [[/insertion]] Sunday P.M. of July 22d & gave to me!
Although they were diminutive, yet they were delightfully refreshing; so well did I relish them, that Radishes - roots stems leaves & all - (including a portion of [[underlined]] some [[/underlined]] ^[[insertion]] Greenland [[/insertion]]  [[strikethrough]] [[illegible]] [[/strikethrough]] Real [[strikethrough]] [[illegible]] [[strikethrough]] were quickly stored away [[strikethrough]] into [[/strikethrough]] in the Great [[strikethrough]] human [[/strikethrough]] Labritory [[strikethrough]] within [[/strikethrough]] of Nature within!

Thursday Aug 2d 1860

At Meridian today I found the Latitude to be 63°-25'-56"N. leaving just about 6 miles more Southing to make before reaching the parallel of"Oo-Kood-leer" the place we wish to make.
After dinner we passed close by a flare or sconce piece of ice on which several [[strikethrough]]additional 'l' [[/strikethrough]] seals were attempting to mount. When ^[[insertion]] nearly [[/insertion]] along side of it, one of seals made his way direct toward the ship one instant with his head out of water the next under. Our Sterry ran for his gun - pointed it at Phocae.  seal dove - Sterry stared - seal came up again.  Sterry aimed - seal  made a final plunge leaving Sterry still in possession of his gun powder & ball.
At [[strikethrough]] Noon [[/strikethrough]] ^[insertion]] 1:0 clk P.M. [[/insertion]] it began to rain & has steadily continued all the afternoon.
Eve X O'clock.Thick fog & raining. We are now heading off land under short sail - awaiting fair weather.
