Aug 1st 1895.
Fine day, warm.
Drive from Zoltoi early this morning. Killing began at 5 A.M. Took record of portion killed & rejected, as below. The usual scenes,- crowding piling up three & four deep, bloody noses, etc. The seals went off into the water from the rocky beach west of Zoltoi. I watched them from the elevation above Zoltoi for about an hour. When they first reached the water they began dolphin-jumping toward the end of the Reef, but all or nearly all turned landward & landed down [[insertion]] at [[/insertion]] [[Gorbokly ?]] bay or circled round & came to land at Zoltoi. I suppose this is the last killing.
