Morning cloudy, clears at 10 A.M. Day very fine, wind very light and variable or calm. Observations of sun for time and getting vessel ready for sea.

Raining and snowing hard with squally E wind in A.M. Moderates in P.M. but continues squally all day. Bar. in evening 28.800. Later observations indicate a great gale from the south outside of Bering Sea, south of the islands.

Kalakhta Portage from Captain's Bay bears ENE, concavity S. The east lead of Kalekhta Bay, the Portage, [[short hand 'and']] the W head of Constantine Bay, bear SW by W, half W from Unalga Pass. Two heads of Kalekhta Bay, in one bear west. 
A rock exists, out of water off the small island SE of Spirkin, beyond the pillar, and is not down on the charts.
Go through Unalga Pass, delayed by adverse tide. 10 P.M. Bar. 29.500.
