Monday April 20. 1874
Put things in order in room. Down to P.O. call at Tennents. Carmanys breakfast - get piles of papers. Call at Navy pay masters office. Room. Buy slippers, up to office have things brought up. Write Postcards. Make up accounts. Down to bank - draw balance, see Shirpser, Rogers, Brown &c back to office, get things in order, close up my room, leave note in regard to mail 
Drive down to Carmanys and thence to the wharf. Get things aboard, arrange matters in my room. About 2 P.M. weigh anchor and stand out to sea bound for Sitka.

Tuesday 21
Wind fresh, weather fine. Read Bulwer's last novel the Parisians. 

Wednesday April 22
Day cloudy wind light. Overhaul scientific stores, read Victor Hugo's 93.

Thursday April 23
Day cloudy with light winds.

Friday April 24
Day overcast wind light. See an English cruiser a ram, probably the Repulse. Evening wind freshens a little

Saturday Apr. 25
Day half cloudy, wind fresh. See a barkentine in P.M.
