walk down to the rock with Paddock. Fill water. Came off at noon & P.M. See about chromometer. Call on Mrs. Cushing & take her some apples. P.M. windy. Come off & write up catalogue notes &c.

Wednesday May 6
Morning, cloudy & windy. Later clears and still later becomes more calm Go ashore & get magnetic azismuth from [[delta symbol]] with thero. 97. A.M. & P.M. Call in at head quarters and see Whitford who has a few more store articles. Buy the canoe. Go down into the Indian Village see Sitka Jack & go into his house. 
Back and go aboard. Suffer a good deal from a bad gum boil and do not go ashore again but write up journals &c. and get notes up to date.

Thursday, May 7
Morning cloudy, wind light westerly Get out the large boat and go down to Vitskari Rocks and take a series of angles - then over to Kookchuk Rock and take another set. Back looking for Zenobia Rock but don't find it. Arrive about 20 minutes past five. P.M. Sitka Jack comes aboard work on clerical work.
