Sunday May 17
Day dull & cloudy with southerly wind and some rain in P.M.. Mend clothes, make out mess bill, write up notes and skin a few birds. P.M. Baker goes ashore with the mate.

Monday May 18
Cloudy wind light SEly with rain at intervals. Work over computations and positions of Fairweather and Crillon. Get Mr Bailey to haul the dredge in the P.M. a tolerable return Mr Baker catches a large halibut in P.M. Evening wind variable light clears a little. 

Tuesday May 19
Morning cloudy, wind light WSW to W. Get under way, about 10 oclock wind freshening a little and about a quarter of eleven stand out to sea passing the entrance without trouble as the tide had nearly ceased ebbing. Our course out was SSE 2/3 of the way toward the eastern rock 100 ft on our beam on which we had least water 6 fathoms Going in our course N 1/2 W, 1/3 of
