the way from western rock least water 4 1/2 fathoms. The end of the spit shoals off gradually while the other side is bolder. There are no low water rocks off shore east of the Cormorant. The extreme point of the spit curves to the south with rocks west of it. Fairway line in, when off the entrance make the top of the easternmost rounded low woody hill in the west shore of harbor near NNW and keep on the line until past the point of the spit then bear up two points to the westward - 
From the large rocks on the spit to the end of the reef = 2 x Large rocks to NW mark on end of spit. Large rocks to [[haven?]] = dist from LR[[?]] Cormorant Rock divided by 2 - or whole dist = 4 x LR to N.W, the two [[paps?]] & slipper shaped Cape Fairweather make good landmarks for the harbor - Land about entrance to harbor makes a well defined low point see top opp page
