Many marmots (S. Parryi) & see the track of a dog, but nothing else alive. Shelter tolerably good except for SW and West winds water shoals gradually from 14 1/2 between the reefs. See the Semidi Islands from the bluff at 7 P.M. go on board again. P.M. more or less cloudy.

Thursday June 11
Morning early foggy, later clears away with broken clouds. P.M. nearly clear, evening cloudy again. Wind light all day S & SW.
Morning obs. for time & magnetic azimuth noon obs. for latitude & shore line & to fix reefs. P.M. equal altitudes for time. Send Mr. Bailey dredging & get very little, among others a Bela? like my St Michaels [[sp?]] [[rat?]] blind, white [[image]] larger and with smaller apex, the [shell?]] of about the same color.
About six P.M. up anchor & stand out of the anchorage see one dog very wild. The water [[below?]], rocks & shore of Id is very shoal, kelp & rocky.
