18th July 1946

From
THE BISHOP OF GUIANA
AUSTIN HOUSE,
GEORGETOWN I,
BRITISH GUIANA.

Dear Miss Mearimore,

Thank you very much for your kind letter and invitation to the concert. Unfortunately I am going to be disappointed as I have arranged a Confirmation at Kitty for five o'clock that afternoon. I am sorry to miss a musical treat & still more sorry not to be able to show by my presence how much we appreciate your talented presence among us, but duty must come first and I cannot change my duties.

With best wishes

Yours sincerely –
† Alan Guiana

Joy Mearimore Sings Again
G-town Chronicle 9/28/46

MEZZO-LYRIC soprano Joy Mearimore, who has already captivated city audiences with her smooth cultured tone-pictures, sings again at the Town Hall at 5.15 p.m. today

This youthful singer achieved fame in the U.S.A. where, before coming to British Guiana, Press critics were impressed by her extensive repertoire, and saw fit to apply superlatives to her capabilities as a concert performer. No less critical than their American opposite numbers, Georgetown audiences have heard her with delight She comes before them again today and the certainty that her renditions will not merely delight but be sincerely appreciated.
