16th Sept. 1942.  A fine, but windy day, warmer, after a couple of colder, clear sunny & windy days; wind SW. but NW-N the previous days.  Insects very plentiful in shelter.

Rode to Slade of Saggart, but owing to strong wind against us did not arrive till 4 PM.  Swept in three areas on W. side of glen for 2 hours, as follows: -

1 = under tree on old road & including lower part of glade higher up road; & by stream further up.
2 = under tree higher up glen on top of river bank alongside road from Saggart mills
3 = under oaks (mainly) where old road joins Saggart road, including swampy place at head of glade & upper flat under trees, between the roads, lower down, to first field on Saggart road.

(No aculeates seen, except Myrmica ruginodis & scabrinodis) 
Dicaelotus?,  1 black & 1 reddish ♀︎.
Phaeogenes fulvitarsis  1 ♀︎.
Cryptinids: only 4 including a small Hemiteles ♂︎ with small wings & 21-seg antennae
Pimpla pomorum  1 ♀︎.
