11th October 1942. 

A very fine day after two very stormy days with showers;  nearly all sunny after a cold night, with moderate W. wind.

Rode (alone) to Rye Water at Leixlip, Co. KD & after an hour went on along canal to plantation W. of Louisa Bridge.  Collected at five places, as follows: -

1 = Slope from road to Rye Water; NE of Louisa Br.
2 = W. edge of 3rd field W. of Louisa Br. between canal & Maynooth road.
3 = Edge of canal at plantation, 1/2 mile W. of Louisa Br.
4 = Inside wall of plantation
5 = Shaken out of Polyporus (long dead!) at foot of old poplar tree at 4.

Bombus agrorum a few faded ☿☿ or ♂︎♂︎.
Vespa vulgaris  a few ☿☿.
Cryptinids 3 (2♂︎♂︎, 1♀︎) ant. 21, 22 & 24 = Hemiteles spp.

Opius cingulatus  ♀︎, seen to fly into spider's web!), ant. 32.
Apanteles fulvipes group  ♂︎.
