16th May 1943.

A brilliant day! Scarcely a cloud in sight & sun never obscured all day. No wind in morning - a nice westerly draft, but in Dublin D. all day & quite a breeze in afternoon. At Leixlip W. until we left but very light & often dropping entirely. Sun blazing, air dry & fresh.

Rode to Leixlip where arrived at 12 noon & swept slope from Louisa Bridge to Rye Water till 2 P.M.; then, as usual, on along Royal Canal for 1/2 mile, to plantation by canal [[strikethrough]] & next [[/strikethrough]] belonging to Mr. Mitchell's race-horse stud-farm; here collected along canal & two path & in plantation (before & after tea). Left there about 5.30 & home at 7.

2 = By Royal Canal & along tow path, outside plantation, 1/2 mile W. of Louisa Bridge.
