25th May 1943.

A disappointing, yet fine, day, as after a pleasant morning with W., light, wind, this turned East & very strong about 11.30 A.M., which caused a jam along coast & so little sunshine & eventually rain developed & lasted at least an hour, 2 till 3 P.M., after which much hot sun & much cold E. wind & practically no hymenoptera seen after shower. Went by bus to Dollymount, where met E. O'Mahony at 10.20 & spent day, till 6.45 on The North Bull. Collected first by shaking along path just at end of sea-wall behind the C.G. Station where Dacnusa taken; then swept along salt marsh & spent a long time looking for Idiasta in the "pans", though many of these & all the drains full of water after recent heavy showers; later crossed golf links to strip between links & strand & swept until shower & after lunch swept again in flat near Lady Anne's Bank; then back along salt-marsh, but hardly anything out.

North Bull, Co. DU.

2 = Dunes along links & next to strand.
