27th June 1943.

The second day with entirely blue sky & blazing sun, though wind E. & very cool & fresh.

Many aculeates buzzing about in garden, 14 Clareville Rd., in forenoon.  The following four taken:-

Hylaeus communis  ♂︎♂︎ very busy over flowers of Sedum stoloniferum:  2 taken 1♂︎ & 1♀︎
Pimpla oculatoria:  at red current bush  ♀︎, ant. 31.
Exetastes cinctipes  ♂︎ flying round birch, ant. 57.

Also collected some stung Aphidds on Cistus bush and noted that Nematine larvae on Salix purpurea at motor house door had gone down during last few days, to pupate.

During the week had a letter from R.B. Benson saying he considered the galls on Salix cinerea in my garden to belong to Pontania bridgmanii Cam. which species belongs to the Pontania proxima complex.
