Sesia formiciformis:  Clear-wing Moth.  2 on birch (1 definitely) or willow:  hitherto only recorded from Cork & Kerry in Ireland.  [One later given to M.S. Dudley Westropp who agrees with my determination of it!]


4th July 1943.
During a hot burst of sun watched ♀︎ Odynerus parietum searching for & pulling from out the sori on Male Fern the larvae of Mneisipatris filicivora (Lep.!) in garden, 14 Clareville Rd. DU.  One larva apparently eaten by wasp itself!
