193. 5th July, 1943. A fine day with falling barometer. (Monday: on duty previous day in museum & did not collect on week-end!); followed by heavy rain in evening - the first rain since 25th June. Visited Westropp in afternoon & took one Bracon triagulator ♀︎ - ant. 30, on currant bush in his garden & the following with sucker at his garden rubbish-head:- [23 mounted & these labelled on 24.9.45] Clonskeagh, Co. DU. Cryptinid ♂︎, ant. 21 = Pentapleura pumilio with large very dark stigma! ♀︎, ant. 20 Phaenocarpa canaliculata many ♂︎♂︎ {13 mounted with antennal segments varying from 31 to 34, as follows:- 31 (4), 32 (6), 33 (2), & 34 (1). Dacnusa areolaris? ♀︎, ant. 21, terebra rather long, but abdomen distorted in drying. Aphidius matricariae? ♂︎, ant. 16. Proctos 2. Chalcid 1 tiny specimen Cynipids 3 (2 spp.) 194. 7th July 1943. A showery day, cold in morning, warm at midday, but afternoon quite spoiled by two terrific showers: collecting quite impossible after the second shower. In afternoon rode to Lucan demesne, arriving about 3.30 & leaving, at 6.30 but collecting confined to about half an hour & only possible then under thick trees. Collected only at one place - by the river walk 1/8 mile below the turbine house. Lucan Demesne, Co. DU. [22 mounted & these labelled 26.9.45] Cryptinids 8, only 2 mounted = Hemiteles? ♂︎, small, very slender, with 20-seg. ant. Hemiteles? ♀︎, ant. with red basal half, 22-seg. Phytodictus ♀︎, ant. 37. Phrudus fuliginosus miki: a very nice ♀︎, ant. 19. Campoplegids 2: not mounted.
