11th July 1943.

A fine day after rain & wind but blowing very hard all day from S.W. until we started for home & wanted its help.

Left home at 11 A.M. & after a stiff ride reached plantation by Royal Canal, 1/2 miles west of Louisa Bridge (Leixlip), Co. KD. at 1 P.M. & had lunch. Wind very strong & millions of flies everywhere but few hymenoptera till 5 P.M.

After lunch swept along canal & then inside walled plantation; later came back along canal 1/4 mile & swept sheltered sides of field between canal & Maynooth road. Left for home at 5.50 & reached home 7.15.
