223. 21st July 1943. A glorious afternoon after several fine days, but a dull cool morning; wind fresh E-NE, sun very hot, air keen & dry, therefore small insects scarce. In afternoon paid my first visit to St. Anne's, Clontarf, Co. DU. accompanied by E. O'Mahony who has collected there for past 20 years & often taken interesting insects there. Collected in 4 places, as follows:- 1 = Round about the lake, mostly under trees & on edge of meadow S. of lake; & also along path up glen. 2 = In dried up bed of & around reservoir especially Watercress & Apium grow along old stream channel. 3 = Under trees between 2 & main avenue in front of house & along S. side of said avenue nearly up to house. 4 = Under trees along path parallel to S. wall along Mt. Prospect Avenue & down to gate along shore road to Dollymount, by which we also entered. Arrived at 3 P.M. & left at 6.45 P.M. 224. 21.7.43, cont. St. Anne's, Clontarf, DU. Taken at 1.
