Ploioaria caliciformis taken at lunch on dining room table in sugar basin, 14 Clareville Rd. Dublin.

3rd August 1943.

A fine day between two wet ones.  In evening took or saw the following insects in back garden 7-8 P.M.

Garden, 14 Clareville Rd., Harold's Cross, DU.

Bombus terrestris & lucorum  ♂︎♂︎.
B. agrorum  ☿☿ & I think 1 small ♂︎.
Vespa germanica  ☿ gathering wood at post.
Odynerus parietum  ♀︎.
[Halictus "smeathmanellus"  ♂︎♂︎ on Sedum, &c., on 1st Aug. at midday]
Crabro leucostomus:  2nd brood I suppose.
Pemphredon lugubris:  2nd brood I suppose.

The following taken with sucker on birch or alder leaves 8 P.M.

Sawfly:  Phyllotoma vagans  ♀︎:  another species "induced" by planting alder.
Helorus sp.  ♂︎.
Leptocryptus sp.  ♂︎, ant. 21.
Pimpla cf. vesicaria  ♂︎, ant. 21, front femora twice emarginate.
Metacoelus [[?mansuetor]]  ♀︎, ant. 28, indicating that this species - of which I have never seen a ♂︎ - is not confined to houses.
Apanteles glomeratus  ♂︎.
