20.9.43, cont. L Muskry, Galtees, ST., cont.

Helix nemoralis, all red, unbanded, large, & some with white lip, very like the alpine form of this species which occurs on limestone outcrops at about same height in Co. Sligo between Gleniff & Glencar & about Annacoona at head of Gleniff.

At same place above L. Muskry I took Helix rotundata, Hyalinia nitidula, & Sphryradium edentulum, one small beetle (= Bradycellus) & a couple of Diptera (Borborus nitidus & a smaller sp.) Many insects seen flying during the day including a Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly at ca, 2,000 & Daisy thought she saw a Peacock at about same level above L. Borheen.

Wind very strong on slopes & cliffs & vegetation in shelter very wet after several days rain & mist & no attempt could be made to sweep for insects & no hymenoptera seen above level of cultivation or thereabouts.
