distinct from the last & nothing of the true Sax. hypnoides form was seen above the lake. Sedum Rhodiola was very abundant from a little above the lake to the uppermost cliffs, while Asplenium viride & Cystopteris fragilis occurred here & there in patches, but we saw no Oxyria on these cliffs, though Campanula rotundifolia & Cochlearia alpina were abundant, with Alchemilla at well over the 2,000 ft. level. Continuing upwards we had tea in hot sun (5 P.M.) in shelter on S. side of summit of Galtymore, from which summit (although not a very clear day) we saw the smoking Limerick city & the Shannon estuary nearly to its mouth, &, continuing clockwise, the depression in which lies L. Derg (behind Keeper Mt.), the Slieve Blooms, Lugnacullia & Wicklow Massive, Mt. Leinster & Blackstairs, the Forthy Mt. S. of Weaford, the sea off the S. Waterford coast & many ranges of hills to S.W. upon which we could not put a name,

while almost beneath our feet lay Slievenamon to the NE, Knockmealdow & the Comeraghs SE, Ballyhoura to S.W., the Glen of Agherlow, guarded by the ridge of Slieve-na-muck to the west & N.W., with the town of Tipperary just beyond the ridge & in the plain. Six airplanes seen during the day, 3 going E in forenoon & three west in afternoon, one of which passed us quite close (while having tea) to S. & very little above summit of Galtymore.

On summit of Galtymore & round about watched flocks of small, very tame, birds which I believe were Twites √ & under stones of cairn took 3 beetles (2 species) for O’Mahony. Collected mosses (on cliffs above L. Diheen & several which form the summit sward of Galtymore much more than the flowering plants referred to by Hart) for Miss Thomson & Mr. Bradshaw.
