Dear Dr. Buechner:

Thank you for your letters of October 19 and November 16, 1966. More than anything else I am glad to hear that the contact for our research between Smithsonian Institution and Air Force was made.

Though I told you in my previous letter that the visit to DMZ was stopped on account of various situations here, after that with the money which I borrowed we visited 2 areas of east DMZ through the kind helps of ROK Army Offices from November 16th to 19th. The survey on the 2 areas of east DMZ made last June was only an outline one, so this time we made a survey on these areas for preparing 5-year research programs in spite of various bad conditions.

As you told in your previous letter I discussed with Dr. Tyson and kept in contact with Miss Harvey of U.S. Embassy in Seoul for Mrs. Ke Chung Kim's travel expense, but I learned it is impossible to get this expense for Korean scientist's wife through U.S. Embassy.

I well-understand about the remittance procedure (remittance through Dr. Tyson) you told me in your letter of November 16th. I think it is all right for you to apply any system for receiving this money unless it is inconvenient to performing our research.

He printed the items which you and your colleagues desired for preparing 5-year plan, and distributed to all the Korean scientists concerned so that the program can be made by December 26th, 1966. By this time, I think, Dr. Ke Chung Kim will be here in Korea, and I am planning to translate the program into English in January, 1967.

Sincerely yours,
