Mr. Robert Wallach
Vice President
International Department
American Security and Trust Company
15th and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Washington, D. C.

Dear Mr. Wallach:

The Smithsonian Insitution is planning to establish a revolving account with the Bank of Korea, in Seoul, Korea. The account will be known as "Smithsonian Korean Research Project" and will be used by Smithsonian personnel to defray expenses incurred while conducting field research in Korea.

Three individuals have been designated as drawers against this account. Mrs. Betty Morgan, Dr. Edwin L. Tyson and Dr. Yung Sun Kang, any one of these persons to sign. Dr. Tyson and Dr. Kang, both now in Korea, have been notified to stop by the Bank of Korea and sign the necessary forms. Each has been sent a letter of identification. Mrs. Morgan is here in Washington and it is requested she be sent signature cards to be signed.

We are making an initial deposit of $6,286.00 and have enclosed a check drawn to American Security and Trust Company. This account will be replenished from time to time as the need arises.

It is requested that you take the steps necessary to open this account in our behalf.

May I take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,

Betty J. Morgan
Assistant Treasurer
