the nation through (a) the promotion of research and training in all appropriate fields of the natural, physical, behavioral, and applied sciences, and (b) the advancement of public understanding of science and the appreciation of its meaning in modern society.

The emphasis of the Science Museum Center shall be on Korea: its human and natural resources.

The Korean National Science Museum Center is envisioned as a means for satisfying scientific and educational needs through serving to coordinate existing programs and the more traditional approaches, and by providing a unique agency for the advancement of knowledge and the dissemination of information.


[[underlined]] PROGRAMS [[/underlined]]

1. The nucleus of the Korean National Science Museum Center shall be collections of materials from all pertinent fields of science and of related library materials.  The principal activities will involve collections, preservation, preparation, documentation, and publication.

2. It is expected that the obligations of the Museum Center in addition to the responsible curatorship of collections will include the conduct of field studies in anthropology, life sciences, botany, geology, zoology, Korean cultural history, ecology, and conservation, among others.

3. Further, it is proposed that scientific research leading to publication based upon collections and field work will be a
