AIR MAIL

Dr. Edwin L. Tyson
American Embassy
c/o State Department
Washington 25, D. C.
Seoul, Korea

Dear Ed:

Your tickets were returned to you under separate cover. We made Xerox copies for reimbursement on a travel voucher which is being submitted at this time. You should have your money for the tickets within another month or so. I am sorry that our oversight resulted in an inconvenience to you.

Enclosed is my check for eighteen dollars. Many thanks for the loan.

I am still in the process of readjusting my circadian rhythm! In a week or two we should have a report on our trip to Korea. Dr. Fosberg has not yet returned, and we will need information from him for the report.

I have requested $5,200 from the private side of the Smithsonian for purchase of the two Toyotas. Once we have this approval from Mr. Ripley and work out a method for purchasing the vehicles without paying import duty, the Air Force will complete the contract with the Smithsonian. I am working with the State Department to find a solution to purchasing the vehicles and importing them to Korea without custom's duty. I have alerted relevant persons to the urgency of obtaining the vehicles and proceeding with the research while the weather is good between now and Christmas.
