Change of Status

The 25% foreign differential which is being paid to you as a result of your tour of duty in Korea is being changed to cost of living and housing allowance. The total that is being changed as of this date is $435.20. The major difference is that the cost of living and housing allowance is non-taxable, thus lowering your Federal tax liability.

In reviewing your entire status, it was also determined that the per diem for Seoul (103 days @ 14.00= 1,442.00) is unallowable and will be removed from your travel authorization. This is due to relocation of your family and certain household goods transportation costs to Korea having been charged to the Project.

added to original:

Dear Ed: I'm sorry that both per diem in Seoul and the cost of living allowance cannot be provided. You will bet per diem when in the field, away from your headquarters in Seoul. Let me know if further clarification is needed. Regards. /s/ Hal [Helmut K Buechner] 18 Nov 66
