Dear Hal,

Dr. Kim's proposed arrival time was changed from 28 December to 4 January. I do not know the reason why, but it was perhaps because of the snow and cold weather in Minnesota and Chicago areas. I believe everyone is looking forward to his visit and his help on the proposals.

Dr. Kang wishes me to give a lecture next semister that begins in March and lasts into July. I told him that I would ask you about the time that you expected me to return to the U.S. I know that our original plan was for my return in April, but with the little field work accompolished it may be better for me to remain a bit longer. Please give me your views. The lecture as I understand it, would be two times each week, and in animal ecology. Sometime I doubt the students would all understand very well, but he seems to think that if I talked very slowly that they would understand. Besides they read better than they understand, he stated, so each lecture should include a reading assignment for the students---junior and senior level.

I have just finished going over the second five year economic development plan for Korea that begins next year. There is quite a lot of research work listed there in the biological sciences ^[[x]] and marine resources that must be done by someone. Perhaps you could look into this as a source for some funds for this project. I do not know who you could contact in Washington, but someone in the Department of State could steer you in the right direction. In the meanwhile, I will see what I can find out over here. I understand that most of this is paid for by the Koreans from foreign corrency funds---this may not be true.

The forms for keeping the financial records have not arrived as yet. Mr. Yoon, the man that is keeping the books knows to keep a receipt for any moneys spent so they can be entered in the books later.

Regards to everyone.

Sincerely,
