n. Comment: Dr. Kang is proposed for travel grant to enable him to attend the University of Michigan Course for National Park Leaders, and to consult with colleagues at the Smithsonian Institution on a proposed ecological study of areas near the DMZ. This study was proposed by Dr. Harold J. Coolidge of the National Science Foundation. Dr. Coolidge will arrange for funds to cover Dr. Kang's attendance at the Course for Park Leaders and, with the Smithsonian, for funds to cover a period of consultation there. As Director of the Korean Commission for conservation of Nature and Natural Resources, and as director of the proposed ecological study, Dr. Kang is the natural choice for these programs. The modest funds required for a travel grant (approximately $1000) would greatly benefit this worthwhile project.
